Can I Cough My Way to Preterm Labor?

Seriously. I know it's been a while since the last post, but it's been a crazy while. I've been sick for over a week. A horrible mystery cough. I don't really feel sick in any other way, except I'm more sleep deprived than normal from coughing all night and now i've got crazy rib pain, also from coughing so much. I did eventually go to the doctor who said he couldn't do much for me (that's what they always say, which is why it takes me forever to go). But Jon felt better knowing it wasn't in my lungs, and he gave me a prescription for cough syrup that isn't "for sure" safe for pregnancy. Well I tried it last night and it did jack squat for me. Didn't even make me drowsy, and I swear it made me cough MORE. So, not going to take that again. Luckily it was only $5, so not too big a waste of money. Sigh. But I tell you what! It's super fun to have a coughing fit that's stressing out my ribs and my ab muscles, while at the same time having a rock-hard Braxton-Hicks contraction, and a L'il Bit with hiccups. I'm pretty sure I'll be the only woman in history to give her baby Shaken Baby Syndrome before he's born.

Ok, I'll stop complaining. I guess I'm pretty lucky to be able to take it so easy right now, no one relying on me. I can just recoup. And I'm also lucky because the baby is doing great, and I'm having no major probs in my pregnancy. And I'm on this very exciting 9 month ride where every day I walk around feeling like a little miracle. Carrying a little miracle. And in another week or so, if I do cough myself into labor, it won't be preterm anymore. That's pretty amazing.

That's the update.
