'Tis the Season.

So Christmas is in 10 days. 10 days! And, like many of you I'm sure, it has really snuck up on me.
I've been having a hard time really getting into the spirit of things. The tree is mostly trimmed and we are working on our Christmas cards but there is still shopping to do and winter weather has finally hit us and it all makes me want to bunker down and stay inside and say "Bah Humbug". But I'm probably just in a mood tonight. Because I really do love Christmas. Booboo LOVES the tree lights and so do I, and I look forward to lots of great time with family. That's really the best part. And the snow is pretty, even though it's so darn cold.

Last week we had two very Christmassy experiences. Jon and I were able to go the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Christmas concert. It was absolutely amazing. I wish I could describe how beautiful it was. I cried many times. It was also cool because there were these lovely dancers and I just loved their costumes. They made me wish that I was either 1) a little girl again so I could play dress up in swirly skirts, 2) that long swirly skirts were in style again, or 3) that I was one of those slightly eccentric women who just wear swirly skirts all the time anyway! The second Christmassy experience was trying to get my 7 month old to take nice pictures for the Christmas cards. My cousin Janae did a pretty amazing job with a little boy who was very unhappy, very unwilling to smile, and teething, to boot. All this resulted in a large amount of funny pictures, and, luckily, a few that are good enough to give away. But for the sake of humour, I thought I'd share some of the funnier ones here: note the excessive slobber, unamused expression, and funny faces he's pulling. All evidence of teething!

What? You've never heard of the Great Christmas Carrot? Ok, really we were just desperately trying to get him to smile... And now for some of the good ones:

For those of you who are cool enough to get the reference: doesn't he look like Toby from The Labyrinth in these? I didn't do that on purpose, I swear!

I've been trying desperately to come up with a caption for this last one...He's doing something very specific with his hands here, but I can't figure out what! If you have any ideas post them in a comment!

He is either ready to lead the Tabernacle choirs, or he is ready for you to put a wrapped present in his cute little hands! Or maybe he has an invisible toy in his hands already,J/k. He is so cute, Janae did a great job taking his pictures!

Those pictures are so adorable! They are all my favorite, but I have to say the first one is a crack up. In the last picture he is trying to make a decision like Teviah in Fiddler, "on the one hand. . ." It amazes me how much he has grown.
Love ya, mom

I totally hear you on the swishy skirts. I find myself drawn to them all the time for some unexplainable reason. If I were to wear them, however, I would inevitably wind up wanting to twirl in them and that is just wholly inappropriate for someone my age and current underwear situation (namely needing new ones.)

LOVE the Christmas pics. He totally looks like Tobey from The Labyrinth - SO cute. (Good thing he doesn't look like Bowie/Jareth, LOL!) I think the Christmas carrot should become tradition. Love it. For some reason his hands in the last one look a little Godfather to me - you know, a little Italian, capiche?

And finally, I should mention what a cool name Janae is. Nyah's middle name is Jenae (just slightly different spelling,) so you know I mean it!

I thought it looked like he was juggling in that last picture myself (you know imaginary balls or beanbags or something... I mean, doesn't everyone do that?)

I couldn't stop laughing at the first picture. It's like he knows what's going on but refusing to humor you. And the last one he is thinking, "What should I get Mom for Christmas?...a slobbery kiss or a finger in her mouth?...decisions, decision...."

He is definitely teaching the gospel like Christ did in the temple.
