On Saturday Jon and I gathered up our courage and our baby to try and get out and have a little fun. We'd attempted it a couple of weeks ago at the Salt Lake City Art Festival, but that was close to home, and we only went for 2 hours. This time we decided to try something farther afield, and for a longer duration of time. I'm a big fan of my Celtic heritage, and so I love to go to Highland Games, otherwise known as Scottish Festivals. So we packed a lot of stuff, picked up Mom and Joel (two cripples, what were we thinking? What were they thinking?) and headed down to Payson for their Scottish Festival. We were there for several hours, and then we stayed even longer to help Joel out and so I could visit with a friend I hadn't seen in a very long (pre-baby) time. By the time we got home we had had quite the time with a tired Booboolala and my mom summed up the day very well: "It's been real, it's been fun, but I can't say it's been real fun!!!"
The first half was a breeze because Walter fell right to sleep in the sling. Here's a pic of His Cuteness!
And I had to get some pictures of his first diaper change in a woodland glen...
...surrounded by bagpipers!!
All in all, quite the day, and a very good thing for me to get out of the house!!

this is a test. From Grandpa Dean
It seems the test worked. Now I will tell you that you do a nice job and your mom is here helping me understant this miracle machinery. Love to you and your boys. Grandpa D
That's so cool that you're taking Walter out to cool things already like art/culture festivals. He is going to be so well rounded! :-) I love you guys lots!
A highland fling sounds like so much fun! I, too, am a fan of my Celtic (Scottish/Irish/Welsh, but mostly Scottish) heritage and have always wanted to attend the highland games. (I've also always wanted to attend a Renaissance festival - would admitting that make me a total geek?)
And I'm so glad you got the first diaper change in a wooded glen on film - that's definitely a rite of passage (as is the first major clothing-soaked-through-with-poop-in-public-after-four-days-of-constipation moment. Aislynne just experienced hers...)
And your booboolah is so big! Oh my - he's flown right past newborn into full-fledged infanthood. What a handsome little guy. Someday I hope to be able to meet him in person :)
bagpipes! culture! what a good mommy you are! and what a cutie!
